The Academy is the largest local medical society in the Commonwealth. We strive to be relevant to our members by providing the necessary tools and services to help you succeed in the ever changing healthcare environment.
We Work to Protect the Profession of Medicine
The Academy continued the ongoing legislative effort to advance the political agenda of doctors in general and Richmond doctors in particular at the General Assembly. We provide one strong local voice with which to address the issues affecting you and your patients.
We completed a hospital staff Bylaws review in 2008 for area hospitals which help to educate our members about their rights and responsibilities in relation to hospitals. Better informed doctors are in a better position to partner with hospitals to provide a just, equitable and efficient healing environment for our patients. We established an ad hoc committee to smooth out the negotiations and reviews.
